13 May Choose Your Battles Wisely | Weekly Tarot Reading | 5/14 – 5/20
You may need to weigh the consequences of a certain decision this week…
The cards are challenging you to take a hard look at your environment and consider whether shaking things up might be the best choice in order to become who you are truly meant to be.
Deco is here to help you understand the choices you could be faced with in the week ahead, so you can take action in the right direction.
P.S. Is there a potential conflict or difference of opinion you’re trying to navigate smoothly right now? Leave a comment below and let Deco know!
Hello, all of my friends at Cosmic Updates. It is Deco, back again for another weekly reading. This week is for the 14th through the 20th.
Last week, we talked a lot about relationships and the potential that relationships were maybe getting in your way, some of your own motivations, and some of the things that you wanted to do for yourself. So, I want to move into this week thinking about how we can continue on that journey to make sure that we’re doing things for ourselves, to keep moving forward, to be competent in our own shoes, and in our own space, to make sure that we are showing up for ourselves instead of being distracted by people around us.
So, how can we show up this week, even better than last week? What can we do this week to keep moving forward? And then, as we move into this reading, we’ll start asking some questions. What is… maybe we need some clarity on a card, and we’ll pull some more just to see what we need to know. So, let’s do this first reading and think about: What can we do to show up the best that we can for this week?
Okay, so this is interesting because I see us moving on from last week in an interesting way. First of all, I see that we have some solid relationships behind us that we can lean on. I think that we’re still putting up a little bit of a front from last week. We might be pretending like everything’s okay, acting like we need to hide something about ourselves, like we have this pride deep down about what we want to present to the world around us. And if we’re going through a hard time, sometimes we just project that everything’s fine, even if we’re not feeling super great. Or maybe you’re making promises that you can’t follow through on.
The good news is you have people that know you, you have people that love you and want you to be authentic with them. And I think that it’s really important that you – well, you can be vulnerable, but you also just open up to those people so that you don’t feel like you have to put a front up, you know. I mean, I think there’s a time and a place to act like everything’s okay. But I think that there’s… it’s unhealthy to act that way 100% of the time.
I do think we’re moving on from something that is a little bit disappointing. Like there was something that we had in our life that we lost, and now we’re trying to move on and think about the things that we’re bringing with us.
So, what I want to think about in the next card that we pull is how do we show up and really be authentic with the people around us? What do we need to do to not put up a front and not act like everything’s okay when we’re struggling? Like, what do we need to do to show up more authentically? I think that’s the main question that we need to ask. How can we show up in a way that is a little more authentic this week?
Okay, interesting. So, again, a lot about relationships that we… Guys, I think, first of all, what we need to consider is this Hierophant in reverse. And the Hierophant is about conformity. It’s about thinking about the box that you’ve been in and making sure that you fit well into that box. But when it’s in reverse, it’s suggesting that you need to step outside of that box and start thinking about doing things differently than you’ve always been or that you’ve always, always have. Maybe that’s leaving a job or leaving a family structure that’s toxic, or leaving a religious institution that doesn’t feel right anymore. That’s feeling like it’s making you feel boxed in, right.
And I think what you need to consider for yourself is trying to do something different, trying to break the mold for yourself, do something different for yourself. I think that there’s a lot to consider here too. Specifically, I think we need to think about our inner self, our inner child, and thinking about what we need to do to boost that part of ourselves up because the Six of Cups is about nostalgia. It’s about our childhood and the things that feel like home for us, right. So, the Six of Cups when it pops up in a reading like this, especially about how we can be more authentic, I think that considering what you need to do to heal your inner child, to heal any childhood trauma or things that maybe you went through, I think that that’s going to be huge here.
And I think stepping out of your comfort zone, while it’s a challenge, I think that it gives you an opportunity to look really hard at the circumstances that you were in and think about how that was really affecting you deep down, how that was affecting you in a way that was maybe negative, right. Because, again, we’re stepping out of an old structure and into a new space that is maybe a little bit out of our comfort zone. And I think that’s a perfect time to process some healing that you need to go through.
Now, the Three of Pentacles is interesting because, through all of this, the Three of Pentacles could suggest that you need mentorship or there could be a growth opportunity in a space having to do with your health or maybe your finances or something like that. But the Three of Pentacles to me can also mean counseling or working with someone to be more mentally well, you know.
And I think that Three of Pentacles, with these other two, I think it’s worth it to think that you might need to talk to someone, talk through these things with someone else and think, “You know what, I’m in this space that doesn’t feel comfortable for me. I’m feeling boxed in, and I want to really come into my own. I want to do what feels the best for myself. And I want to do something that builds me up and helps me to live my more authentic life,” because maybe the reason that you’re feeling like you need to put a front up is that you’re feeling boxed in and you need to do something different, but talking to other people is going to be huge for you.
All right, now, what I want to think about next for a few more cards is how do we move out of that box? How do we step away from something that we’ve been a part of for a really long time, that’s been comfortable for us for a really long time, and step into a new chapter? What do we need to do? What mindset do we need to take in order to really claim this new journey, this new way of handling ourselves in this new environment? What do we need to do to be our best selves in this new space to process these changes? Let’s see…
Okay, let’s pull a few more cards here. So, I’ve got the Ten of Wands, we have the Seven of Wands in reverse, the Queen of Cups, and the Star. So again, transitional periods here. This could be heavy, guys. This has the potential of being a heavy transition for you because, again, you’ve been doing the same thing for a really long time. And now you’re stepping outside of your comfort zone. And I can speak from experience that that’s not an easy transition, to kind of break the mold specifically because the people around you are not going to be happy about it.
The Seven of Wands in reverse is really taking on other people’s opinions and letting them affect you more than they need to, very similar to last week’s readings, right – letting other people’s opinions affect your own judgment and your own decision making. And I think when the Seven of Wands in reverse pops up in a reading like this, where we’re considering how we move into something else, I think it’s a challenge where we need to start thinking about whether other people’s opinions hold any value in our life or if we’re just taking on opinions that don’t matter to us, you know.
I think a lot of people give their opinions when we don’t want them. And I think that it is important to consider those carefully and think, “Is this someone that is giving me an opinion that I value? Or is this someone that I don’t really care what they think or what they would consider would be a value in my life?” you know.
I think that this is a card that is challenging you to be really critical of what other people have to say about your journey because ultimately, it’s your journey. And just because someone wants something for you doesn’t mean it’s what’s best for you.
Okay, this is a transition. And I do think you’re going to be out of your comfort zone. I do think that this is going to feel really heavy because when we have this perfect puzzle of how we all fit together in that old system, that Hierophant system, we have to start challenging other people’s opinions of what happens with us because we don’t fit into that perfect puzzle anymore. We are stepping out of that space and creating a life that we want for ourselves. So sometimes that causes some conflict and, again, causes some heaviness. You might be wondering to yourself, like, “Was this worth it? Is it worth it for me to step out of my comfort zone, to step out of a system that I’ve been a part of for such a long time or a group or an organization or whatever it is? Is it worth it to move on?”
And I think you’re going to wonder that for a while. I have a feeling that this is something that is going to be uncomfortable. But you know what? Stepping out of your comfort zone sometimes is the only way to change your circumstances. And if that’s what you need in order to grow and to come into your own, then that’s what you need to do, my friends.
Now, the Queen of Cups in this reading, I love because I think what you need to be considering here is just how you’re feeling through all of it. And the Queen of Cups, that’s the card that’s that person that you want to show up for you when you need someone, you know. They are very in touch with their feelings. They are very empathetic. They think very carefully about how they’re relating to the people around them. And they show up for people.
So the thing about the Queen of Cups is: This might be an energy that you need to claim. But this might also be a person that is going to come into your life and help you. Maybe it’s that Two of Cups from the beginning of this reading. And I think, my friends, what you need to consider is that taking time to heal emotionally from this change and to give yourself space emotionally is going to be really important as you’re processing all of these changes and considering whether or not this journey was even worth it.
You know, I think you need to be really forgiving of yourself and to remember that this is a transformational process. That you are stepping into a new chapter in your life. And I think it’s one that deserves a little bit of grace for yourself. So give yourself the opportunity this week to step out of your comfort zone, to try something different, and to really take hold of your life again. You’ve got this, my friends. Best of luck this week.
